In 2004, when Steve Earle was working on Jerusalem, we sent him a Bourgeois Slope D with a Sitka top and Rosewood back and sides. He used the guitar a lot on the album and that made us happy.

Gaby Alter interviewed Earle for Mix Online that year and said that although he used a variety of electric guitars on Jerusalem, for the acoustic parts, he played his Bourgeois almost exclusively, quoting Earle as saying “it’s almost the best new guitar I’ve ever bought.” – Read more here.
Around that time, you could also see Earle playing this guitar on his Bluegrass gigs with the great Del McCoury.
